The initial impact of this growth of Daemon required the culture to increase communication, the way we communicated, and the structure to support the larger team. I then went about bringing together a motley crew that formed the first iteration of a ‘Culture Working Group’ with the initial question to answer how do we “bottle our culture”.simple right….naive….certainly…but I started that journey! The group also had a key role as it could act as a 'mirror' to the founders and finally help anyone that had a partially formed idea to get a sense of how it might help us and look to create the right initiatives that would impact the culture positively. The founders liked what I was doing and felt it matched the emerging company values. It all initially came about as Culture was identified as a big part of how we wanted to grow and keep the same great ‘feel’ we had, even back then. Let me set some context first, when I joined Daemon 8 years ago we could all fit in a tiny room, then fast forward and now we are 160 people.Īround 7 years ago I was entrusted as the ‘guardian’ (that's certainly how I saw it anyway) of our working culture by Steve & Cal our founders.
